Getting a custom motorcycle seat or saddle for your bike is likely to be the best investment to improve rider comfort that you will ever make. The Stock seats or saddles are generally not made from the most comfortable of materials and after about 30 minutes or an hour of riding the foam has collapsed and you are sitting on the plastic pan instead of on a comfortable seat. The other thing you will find is that a custom seat or an aftermarket saddle by some of the more popular manufacturers will also improve the lines of your bike. There are several very popular manufacturers for this type of a modification. Probably the most well known is Corbin. Corbin makes some very nice custom seats for most types of motorcycles including sport and cruiser bikes. Sargent is another very well known maker. Sargent just like Corbin makes seats and saddles for a variety of cycles. Danny Gray makes some really nice benches and saddles for cruisers. Mustang makes the more traditional looking OEM Replacements. Now most of these brands are readily available at most shops and will come in a variety of custom finishes, however if you want a true custom seat you are likely to have to go to the manufacturer directly or find a local upholstery shop that can make you one.Corbin motorcycle seats have been around for quite a while. These guys know how to make a quality seat that will give the rider comfort. Everything they make is made from the highest quality materials and will generally last for the life of your bike under normal conditions. Corbin uses its own patented Comfort Cell Foam which is designed to give you the most comfortable ride. Corbin is also proud to be an American company that does all its manufacturing here in the
USA. They are headquartered in an 82,000 Square Foot facility in the small town of
Hollister CA. Replacing your stock seat with a Corbin will be one of the best changes you will ever make to your bike. You will notice you can go twice as far and be less fatigued.Sargent motorcycle seats are another great choice when it comes to choosing a custom saddle for your bike. Sargent makes a variety of models made to fit most popular sport bikes. Sargent quality is very comparable to Corbin. One nice thing about the Sargent is that when you get it it is ready to slap on the bike where with the Corbin you have to usually remove some components from your old saddle to make it work. I have a Sargent on my Ducati and I can guarantee it was one of the best additions to my bike that I ever spent money on. I can now rider for quite a long time before things get uncomfortable. Before with the stock piece 30 minutes and they foam would have completely given in and I am sitting on plastic which does not make for a fun ride.Danny Gray and Mustang mainly specialize in benches and saddles for cruisers. Danny Gray makes some very nice two up seats for cruisers and Mustang makes a wide variety of motorcycle seats with a more vintage and stock look but with much improved comfort for the rider. So when you decide to replace your OEM seat with a new one you might want to take a look at Crobin, Sargent, Danny Gray or Mustang for a quality replacement. Generally prices currently range from $250 to $500 and up for a quality custom saddle.

Deciding on a saddlebag or a tank bag is usually a matter of how your motorcycle is set up. Usually on a sport bike the exhaust system interferes with the mounting of saddlebags therefore a tank bag makes more sense. Having said that there are some saddlebag types that are made specifically to fit on sport touring bikes. Their design is such that there is enough clearance to allow the exhaust to pass the bags. The other consideration is the space requirements that you are looking for and how a set of motor cycle saddlebags is going to affect the look of your bike versus a tank bag. Saddlebags are made from a variety of materials these days leather saddlebags are still very popular these days however most of them have plastic linings to keep your stuff dry if you get caught in the rain as well as maintaining the shape of the bags if they are empty. Tank Bags are generally not made from leather but rather from synthetic water proof materials that either have a waterproof lining or come with a cover that fits of the tank bag and protects it from the rain.Motor Cycle Saddlebags are usually the more popular choice on cruiser bikes because these types of cycles are made to have some sort of storage system mounted. When making a choice on what you get keep in mind what your purpose is for getting the bags. If you just want them for trips when you go out of town then you want to look at a set of luggage that is easily removed. Lots of those are available or choose a permanently mounted system which ties in to your bike and is not easily removed. Usually if you get something that is permanent its not just for storage but also to enhance the looks of your cycle. A nice set of leather motor cycle saddlebags should do that quite nicely. On the other hand if you just want something to throw on the bike for longer trips I would look at a set of touring luggage which will give you the most storage and will easily mount on to the bike and just as easily come off. That way when you get to where you are going you can shed the luggage and leave it at the site or your hotel room and go out and tear up some road. Now for Sport Bike’s a tank bag is usually the easiest way to create storage for yourself. Magnetic mounting systems are usually used on these making it easy for you to mount the tank bag and remove it. I have however herd that some magnetic tank bags can interfere with your electronic fuel injection system since it is a computer and magnets do affect that. Having said that I have a magnetic tank bag on a fuel injected bike and have never had a problem. If you are concerned about this I would go and get a tank bag that has a different mounting system. Their are a few that don’t use magnets however most of today’s tank bags will use a combination of magnet and some sort of tie down to keep the bag in place. Generally on sport bikes just the magnets in the bag are enough to keep it place since it is usually sitting behind a fairing the wind does not effect it however I have used a tank bag on my cruiser and it needs an extra tie down that snaps on and ties down around the neck of the bike to keep it in place. Most of your tank bags these days are made from synthetic material that are waterproof and protect your gear from the elements. Another convenience factor on most of these bags is that they generally have a handle and even backpack straps are part of some, so you can easily pull them off your bike when you need to go inside of a place. Also I would recommend you look at the dimensions and try and find something that suits your needs. You can find tank bags that are big enough to fit several days worth of clothes and gear or a small bag that is good for tooling around town or a day trip. You will find most of them are expandable this makes it versatile enough to use for different applications.Their are many manufacturers of motor cycle saddlebags and tank bags to choose from. We currently carry biker luggage by the following manufacturers in our online catalog: Chase Harper, Nelson Rigg, Saddlemen, T-Bags, Hopnel, Dowco, Willie and Max, Kuryakyn, Ace, Axio, and Iron Horse. For more information on any of these please visit our section on Saddlebags, Tank Bags and Rolls or contact us directly so we can assist you further.

This Texan started his racing career on a small dirt track in the town of
Springfield,
Illinois in 1957. Though his career had him traveling over a large part of the world, the most exciting races were those in
America. He became the first four time winner of the
Indianapolis 500, on that famous motor speedway. He has competed in 35 Indy 500s as a driver, which is a record that probably will stay unchallenged.A.J. has driven in a number of different venues: NASCAR, midgets, sprints, and even
Le Mans. He won over 150 major races during his driving career, which has been over more than four decades. Not only is this man talented and versatile, but his long career has showed off two of his major character qualities: perseverance and toughness. Not only has A.J. instilled a love of cars and racing to his children, he himself received it from his father. His father was an auto mechanic that loved racing, and would tell A.J. stories of the auto racing of years gone by. They worked on cars together, as his father had them as a hobby as well as a business. He took one of the cars from his father and started out on the racing circuit in the years 1953 through 1957. Though he persevered, driving the tow vehicle to get the racer to the various tracks, success did not happen often. However, other race car owners noticed the young man, and made him offers to be a driver for more established teams. The year 1958 was his first year driving in the Indy 500. He got past the rookie weedout, and finished 16th in the race, actually earning several thousand dollars for the effort. This was a great encouragement for someone used to sleeping in the towing vehicle, or on an extra cot in someone’s house. The cars of that era did not have many safety features, and accidents often caused severe injury to the drivers. In 1965, an accident in
Riverside, California left him with a broken ankle, a broken back, and severe chest injuries. A doctor pronounced Foyt dead at the scene, but driver Parnelli Jones say some movement and revived him. Only ten weeks later, Foyt was back behind the wheel, winning five races that season. The next year his car hit the wall in
Wisconsin, causing the fuel tank to rupture, and burning A.J.’s hands and face. The rest of that season was a difficult one to finish, and his point ranking put him 13th in the list. Other people began talking about his retiring from the track. This caused A.J. to make 1967 a banner year, and he won the national title for the fifth time. This included his third win at
Indianapolis. The Indy 500 that year had a remarkable finish. A.J. was in front by nearly one lap, and as he was making the last lap, there was a large group of cars in front of him. All of a sudden, a number of cars were spinning, and bouncing off the walls. A.J. dropped his car into second gear, deciding he was going to win even if he had to push a few cars ahead of him across the finish line. Many more notable successes came, along with a number of other injuries, through the 1970s and 1980s. One of the worst happened in 1990, when his brakes failed and the car sailed off of the track at 190 mph and landed in a dirt wall. Though the injuries were not life threatening, both of his legs were shattered. The pain was intense, and required several surgeries. After another six months of therapy, he limped to his car to qualify second for the Indy 500. Though he did not complete this race due to a mechanical malfunction, the heart and determination of this great racer is exemplified by this victory over circumstance.

Racing is filled with excitement but, it’s also filled with danger. To best protect yourself you need the appropriate gear. The most important thing you need and always should wear is a full face helmet. A full face helmet not only protects your head it protects your lower face as well. With your full face helmet you should have goggles so that nothing can get in your eyes will riding or racing.Goggles with a roll off or peel off system are the nicest. If you should get mud or debris on your goggles all you need to do in the case of roll offs is pull a string and you will have a new piece of film in the case of peel offs all you do is pull the top piece of film off and it’s like having a pair of new goggles. Riding boots are very important also they are made of hard plastic and come up just short of your knees. They keep your ankles safe from being twisted bad and they help from getting burns from the engine and exhaust. Race gloves will provide you protection from debris and also help against blisters.Chest protectors are good because they provide protection from rocks and stones flying back at you from other riders they also protect you from limbs or other obstacles around the track. Race pants will provide you with a light weight non restrictive fit that helps with your flexibility. Race jersey’s help in that they are light weight and very breathable so that when you start sweating the air can pass through the jersey, they also help in identifying riders. The final thing you should prepare to buy is a drink carrier. During a race it is important to keep yourself hydrated. A drink carrier gives you the ability to sip up a drink whenever you need it. Most of these carriers attach to your back and have a long tube that runs to your helmet. Now to make your quad ready. The proper tires are very important. You should know what type of conditions you’re going to be racing in and have the proper tire setup and always have plenty of spares. The other thing to go along with the tires is the rims. I would always try to run beadlock rims so your chances of a flat will decrease. Most races require you to use a kill switch that way if you get knocked off your quad it will die. There are a bunch of guards you can outfit your quad with such as A-Arm guards, skid plates, and front & rear push bars. These guards will help your quad sustain more abuse with less damage. Aftermarket Handle bars are usually lighter and stronger than the stock originals. Same goes for aftermarket axles they are stronger and more durable so they can sustain the abuse that is put on a atv during the course of an event. These are just a few of the things that you need to look at when preparing to race.

There are many reasons that I can think of right now that condones the act of ATV riding for kids. In life, there’s a risk in everything. There’s a risk of choking on a piece of chicken over the dinner table. There’s a risk of slipping in the bathroom while showering. There’s a risk of breathing in bad bacteria and dying from it. Why, then, should ATV riding for kids be considered so dangerous that it be banned? Like riding a bicycle or driving a car, the possibility of running into danger is there too but the risk of sustaining fatal or critical injuries in the course of riding the ATVs can be minimized if one takes adequate or extra precaution while doing it. ATV riding is an extremely healthy activity for the kids….for the mind and the body.Mental strength is enhancedAs with every other type of sports, letting a child ride an ATV suitable for his or her gae is perfect to strengthen their mental muscles. Discipline is required and when one is under a little bit of healthy pressure, the child will learn to be better in controlling their emotions or practicing restraints.Physically fit kidsSome people are surprised to see that ATV riding can be quite a difficult sport. It’s not easy to maneuver a machine like that perfectly and under stressful conditions. Therefore, when a child is allowed to ride his or her ATV regularly, you will soon see that the kid’s motor skills are enhanced and they become physically fitter.Learning life skills from riding an ATVLike having a pet, when a child owns his or her first ATV, the kid will become attached to the machine. Just because it doesn’t jump up at the kid when he/she comes through the garage door does not mean that the kid won’t get attached to the machine! With that attachment, comes responsibility because the child will learn that in order for the ATV to run properly, he/she needs to pay attention to the vehicle and this comes in the form of cleaning the vehicle up regularly and learning about the parts of the ATV that needs to be replaced.ConclusionATV riding is an all-round healthy sport and a physically-challenging recreation for both kids and adults alike. Whilst I see the anxiety expressed by some parents over the ever-rising popularity of ATV riding in the country, I believe that risks are everywhere. Living is a risk, hence, we have to accept the risk, take precaution, be informed, learn and let live. Wrongful and inaccurate reports of accidents related to ATV riding for kids did not help matters at all. If you’re a concerned parent wondering if you should let your children ride ATVs during their spare time, I urge you to check the facts and figures properly before condemning the sport.

Mobility scooters, there are so many brands and models to chose from that researching and reading reviews can be confusing. An electric scooter can offer you freedom and pride without having to rely on help with others. Mobility scooters come in many capacities, colors or styles such as 3 wheel or 4 wheel. It pays to do your research and review you options before making that purchase. Many lightweight mobility scooters have a capacity of 250 pounds. Some of your lightweight scooters can be folded or collapsed to be put in a trunk or car. Many other higher capacity scooters may requires a lift. In many cases the scooter may be covered by insurance but the lift may not. Again always check with your insurer before making that purchase. Many lightweight models are of 3 wheel design. These models are usually more maneuverable and are great around the house or in tight areas. 4 wheel models are usually of more rugged design and have a higher capacity and are less prone to tipping. They also are more likely to have a further range but don’t forget that range is dependent on several factors. These factors are, weight capacity, battery capacity, age of battery and temperature. Also consider range and charging if you have a short range you will be spending more time charging. At some point you may need to replace batteries. Over time a rechargeable battery will lose its ability to take a full charge and your range could decrease. With range on the 3 wheel lightweight mobility scooters you can expect about 10 mile range. On 4 wheel higher capacity models you may be looking at a range of about 25 miles or more. It all depends on the brand and model. When purchasing a mobility scooter you have to ask yourself what you will be using it for. Is it for indoor or outdoor use. Will you be using it primarily indoors, to get around the golf course or make trips down to the local grocery store to pick up groceries. If you are picking up several bags of groceries you may need one with further range and capacity and this would apply to golf and because of the weight of the bag and clubs. Depending on your lifestyle you may require more than one mobility scooter.Tires are another consideration, pneumatic tires may be prone to punctures but are lighter than solid core tires and have more shock absorbency. The solid core tires are heavier and do not have the shock adsorbing ability of air filled tires and may give a stiffer ride but newer electric mobility scooters may have suspensions that compensate and alleviate the knocks and bumps of uneven surfaces. Pneumatic tires will need to be checked more often for the correct air pressure. Regardless at some point depending on how often you travel or use your scooter you will probably need to change tires and of course this will be determined also on the type of surfaces you travel on.There are many things to consider when you buy a scooter for mobility. Always check with Medicare or your medical insurance to make sure your purchase is covered. Just make sure you have reviewed all your options and done your research before making that purchase.

Finding the right motorcycle apparel at a discount price has been made so much easier since the emergence of online motorcycle stores. Now you can shop for riding gear in the comfort of your own home. Never before could you hit 20 or 30 different stores and compare prices on apparel, but now with the invention of the internet its only a matter of minutes to find the best price on riding apparel or any other bits you want for your ride. Also the convenience of never having to leave your house and having all your gear delivered to your front door is a nice bonus.
In today’s market for motorcycle apparel and gear you have a plethora of choices as to what you want to wear. There are almost as many makers of quality apparel as there are when you just go clothes shopping. Some of today’s most popular gear is made by Icon. Icon really has its pulse on the market place, they are always pushing the envelope when it comes to design and style. Icon makes pretty much all the gear you could possibly want, jackets, gloves, boots, helmets, and even tank bags. They are probably the most searched for manufacturer of motorcycle gear on the web. One of the newer lines for motorcycle apparel is Arlen Ness. Now Arlen Ness or Ness Tech has made parts for cruiser bikes forever but has recently also decided to enter the apparel market with some really nice looking jackets. Arlen Ness gear is made to appeal more to the cruiser rider where most of the other companies mentioned here are geared towards the sport riding crowd. AGVSport is another well known line, they much like Icon make it all. You can get anything from a jacket to gloves and boots from AGV. AGV Sport makes very high quality gear. Alpinestars is another popular maker of motorcycle apparel. They manufacture helmets, gloves, boots, jackets and even one piece or two piece riding suits. The one piece suits really are more designed to be for track days, offering the best in protection that money can buy. For those of you that enjoy cruising more then sport riding you will find lots of chaps, vests and old school leather jackets are available by a variety of manufacturers as well as their being a lot of generic gear of that type being available. Back in the early biker days if you wanted a jacket you were pretty much stuck sweating it out in a leather jacket even when it was steaming outside. Now you can get mesh jackets that offer as much protection as their leather counterparts. The introduction of mesh jackets was a dream come true for anyone that lives in extremely warm climates. Also many of the gloves now come in a vented format which makes them perfect for warm weather riding. Gloves are now also being made out mesh material to make them even lighter and even more breathable therefore allowing your hands to stay cooler while still offering some protection. Sorry boots are usually still leather and can get quite warm, however in the last few years Icon and a few other manufacturers of apparel have come out with riding shoes which offer some of the same protection as boots but are way more comfortable. Alpinestars makes some really nice ones that double as regular tennis shoes just fine. If you are in the market for quality motorcycle apparel at a discount I would definitely recommend you hit the internet and shop to your hearts content. With so many makers and sites out there take your time and find the gear that you really want.
