Many Factors Influence Gasoline Prices

As we fill up with gasoline every day, a lot of us sit back and wonder how exactly is the gasoline price determined? What plays the part of making the gas prices so low or so high? In this article, we are going to explain a few factors that play a part in determining the gas prices. Hopefully after you read these points, you’ll better understand the gas industry and how gas prices are determined.

Amount of oil produced

Oil comes from all points of the world and as you may know by now, a majority of the United States’ oil comes from the Middle East. If the oil supply starts to dwindle, this will cause less of a supply causing the price to rise. If the supply is too high, obviously the price will lower so that it’ll sell. This will bring us into the supply and demand part of gas.

Supply and demand

Like anything you buy or see in the stores, it all comes down to supply and demand. If there’s a lot of demand for a product, the price will be higher because the businesses know it will sell. If the demand for the product is lower, the businesses will have to cut costs in order to compete and let the products fly off the shelves. Supply and demand is also a big part of the gas industry.

Wars

Believe it or not, wars have always made an impact on gas prices. If you look at the gas price history, you will notice that higher gas prices were always around during wars. Some experts say that wars have nothing to do with gas prices and others say that wars conflict with gas prices. We will let statistics speak for themselves and say wars creating an impact on prices.

Local taxes, etc

Gas prices aren’t the same price around the United States. Each state varies when it comes to gas prices. This is because of the local taxes and locations. You may that even in your area that some gas prices are higher in other areas. The reason that gas prices vary so much throughout the states is because of local and state taxes. A lower income area is going to have cheaper gas prices because of taxes compared to a higher income taxed area.

There are other factors that determine gas prices such as the stock and petroleum market. When fear is involved, it can affect the gas prices greatly. Besides these factors, there are many others that can influence prices such as damage done to oil barracks, refineries, etc. Gas prices will be no different than an item in a grocery store like I mentioned above, it basically comes down to the supply and demand of gasoline. When the demand is high, which it always is when it comes to gas, the price is going to be higher. If you don’t want to pay the higher gas prices, there are many alternatives on how you can save on gasoline.

Make Sure You’re Not One Of The 2 Million Car Owners Currently Estimated To Be Driving Without Insurance

Last year police in the UK seized more than 150,000 uninsured cars. They gave owners 14 days to pay a £200 fine and the costs of having the car impounded, or look on as their pride and joy was sent off to the crusher. Happily that does not have to be the case for you.Insurance benefits

Almost every policy offers different levels of cover to every other policy. Here are a list of some of the most common features, and the low-down on what they actually get you.

Courtesy car

This guarantees you a replacement vehicle while yours is taken in for repair - it can be very useful for people who are reliant on their car to get around. Most insurers do provide a courtesy car but often only if your car is repaired by their approved garage. Some insurers offer a courtesy car only when your car is damaged in an accident, and charge extra for providing a replacement in the case of theft.

Personal belongings

This covers all personal belongings that are lost or damaged while in your car. However, only a few insurers replace lost items with new ones. The rest take the age and condition of the item into account and then pay out what they consider to be appropriate compensation. The maximum amount you can claim, and what items are actually covered, also varies from company to company. As with all these things, it basically comes down to sifting through the small-print and working out how useful personal belongings cover will be to you.

Choice of repairer

Some insurers will insist that your car is repaired at one of their approved garages. Choice of repairer enables you to decide where your car goes.

Medical expenses

This can be a very useful addition to a policy though it is not offered by every insurer. Medical expenses caused by an accident will be covered by your insurance – useful if you require lengthy dentistry or physiotherapy after a crash.

In-car audio equipment

Useful for Pimp-my-ride fans, in car audio equipment covers all the stereo equipment you have blasting out Westlife on the back seats. Again, insurers vary on how much cover they actually offer. Most companies set a limit of around £500, so it may well be worth forking out for more if you have half of Dixons packed into the dashboard.

Legal protection

These are litigious times, so some people may feel more comfortable with legal protection. This covers the cost of any legal action resulting from a car insurance claim.

Driving other cars

Many insurers offer third-party protection to policyholders driving other cars. However, this can often be limited to driving in ‘emergency situations.’ As you would expect, the exact nature of an emergency can differ substantially from policy to policy.

Named drivers

Named drivers do not have a policy in their own name, but are added on to the policy of a friend or relative. This covers them to drive that person’s car without a separate insurance policy of their own. Beware though that named drivers do not have third-party cover to drive other cars, even in an emergency.

Plan Safe Winter Travel In Your Vehicle By Following These Tips

Winter highway and general road conditions, especially in Michigan where snow and ice can come up all of a sudden while you are driving, are what drivers dread in the months of November through March (sometimes even April!).

You first need to allow yourself extra time when planning your trip if you must drive in winter conditions. Clear off your vehicle of all snow, ice, etc., including on your hood and roof. Be sure to turn your headlights on so that other drivers can see you better. Although the posted speed limit may be 65 mph, you will want to decrease your speed to allow for at least three times the normal stopping distance, should you need to brake quickly. Use low gears to maintain your vehicle’s traction, especially on hills. If there are snowplows out, you must stay behind them at lest 200 feet and never pass them on the right (this is against the law). Be especially careful when passing them in the passing lanes.

Often, the passing lane is in worst condition than the driving lane so avoid sudden lane changes. In general, brake early and gently so your vehicle does not skid. If your wheels do lock up, ease off the brake and never pump anti-lock brakes (just stomp and steer out of a skid).

Some other general tips for driving in winter conditions include the following:

1. Watch for slippery bridge decks.

2. Do not use cruise control/overdrive.

3. Do not cut quickly in front of large trucks.

4. GO SLOW AND DRIVE DEFENSIVELY!

When highway conditions become too much for you and your vehicle, do not hesitate to postpone/cancel your travel plans altogether because your safety is what matters. Eventually, the roads will be salted and clear and you will be able to get to your destination. Is Water Fuel Technology A Scam ?

Do you want to learn more about the water fuel technology, and whether or not it can really be used to replace gas? More and more people around the world are being exposed to this secret, and it is because there has been a significant increase in the number people looking for fuel alternatives.

1. The Unavoidable Rise of Fuel Prices

With the supply of gas running lower and the tension between Iran and the US increasing, it is possible that fuel prices will continue to rise even more in the near future. This has caused many drivers to become very worried, forcing some of them to sell their cars and take public transport instead. One of the most amazing discoveries I made is that some people have been running their cars partly with water now.

2. How Can Water Be Used As A Fuel?

Water cannot be directly burned like a fuel, but gases can be extracted from it to be burned for energy. With H2O being much easier and cheaper to acquire than gasoline, it is no wonder that many drivers are using the water fuel technology.

The discovery of water’s ability to provide energy was actually made many years ago, but has never been released to the public. Oil prices can be very erratic during economic crisis and wars, thus there is always research being done to find gas alternatives.

3. Have You Heard Of The Deuterium Project?

The research of using water as a fuel had already begun 20 years ago in a project called The Deuterium Project. Today, we can use this technology ourselves by building a simple electrolysis system and installing it into our cars.

4. How Come We Have Never Heard Of This Water Fuel Technology Before?

This technology had never been commercialized due to its ability to impact the oil industry significantly. If everyone were to run their cars with water, the demand for oil would drop, seriously affecting countries that rely on crude oil sales for national income.

5. How Can You Use The Water Fuel Technology Yourself?

The water system can be built from home for typically less than $150, depending on whether you already have some of the parts at home. So far, this system has been able to provide enough energy to power cars and trucks. You do still need some amounts of gasoline, but at smaller amounts if you use this system.

Selling Your Car ? A Little Bit Of Work Could Potentially Net You A Better Offer For Your Vehicle And Attract More Buyers

Sean Stewart, President of yourautomarket.com, offers some practical tips on preparing your vehicle to sell. “A good first impression goes along way and when it comes to vehicles the first impression is vital“. Before batteries are put into your camera it is a good idea to read the following and implement all or some of these tips. The Exterior:A buyer will usually look at the exterior first. They have already made the decision that the style and color is acceptable, now they want to look further. During this period they will be assessing if there is anything wrong with the paint, the body, major scratches and so on. Take the time to wash the vehicle if weather permitting. The worst thing you can do is hide your well-maintained car under an inch of road dirt. You know you have road dirt when you see finger smears on the trunk and doors, and the always comical “wash me” on the back. How about a nice coat of wax? This would give your vehicle that showroom look and help buff out small scratches. Check the tires for air and shine the rims. “What really attracts my attention is a set of polished rims. It’s stylish and tells me that the owner takes good care of the vehicle”. “You can buy foam sprays for the rubber and rims at any Automotive Retailer that make them look wet and shiny”. If the exterior passes inspection then the buyer will move onto the interior.

The Interior:

“No one wants to open the door and see potato chips ground into the carpet”. A few dollars for the vacuum at the car wash is simple and easy. “The suction is usually better than a home vacuum and while cleaning you may just find enough loose change for a Tim Horton’s coffee”. “I like a wet look to my dashboards so I frequently use a treatment to the vinyl”. But be careful not to put too much treatment on the steering wheel, Sean warns, as this can make it quite slippery and dangerous for driving. Is there a story there for some other time? For a quick clean a damp cloth can do wonders for wiping the dust off the dashboard and all components. Remove any fuel receipts, ice scrapers, and other items that take up real estate in the interior. Give your inside a total overhaul of clutter. Clean out all compartments and most of all the glove box. “If you are like me you will use your glove box as a temporary garbage bin” Sean states. “It sounds funny to remind people to empty out compartments and glove boxes but being in the industry I have seen many interesting items inside vehicles for sale”. The trunk needs attention too during your cleaning. Ensure the spare is accessible and ready for use.

The Engine:

An engine shampoo would do wonders if you feel it is required but for some this may be un-chartered water. “Shampooing an engine can be intimidating. Most do it your-selfers will spray the engine using a $10 bottle of engine shampoo, let it soak and then hose off. Some say it is good to wipe off the major parts of the engine and either air dry or use an air hose”. It is best to follow the instructions that come with the engine shampoo or get it done professionally if you prefer.

Now that the vehicle is photo ready, think about the location. “A nice landscape is ideal but most people don’t have access to a beach with a windsurfer in the background. Ideally try to get as much of the vehicle in the photo to minimize background noise”. Sean explains background noise as visual objects that take the viewer away from the vehicle. For photos Sean has always liked the front 45-degree shot from a height just above the bumper. “What we try to do is get a low shot on an angle of the front as the first shot. This to me is classy and also stylish”. “I really enjoy seeing vehicles posted on our site where the photo taker has put effort into their photos”. “I can’t stress enough how a clean vehicle with a really good photo can make a difference”. If you find that you are not able to get your vehicle ready for sale then seek out local professionals. Most retailers are about $100 for a detailed clean of a family sedan sized vehicle with engine shampoos extra.

Automakers Are Reinventing The Diesel Engine With Remarkable Results

In the past twenty years, diesel engines have the connotations of pollution, heavy machinery, and uncomfortably loud noises. This image that many people have is beginning to take a turn for the change as several automakers are reinventing the diesel engine with remarkable results. Nearly 25 years ago, General Motors unveiled diesel powered Chevrolet Caprices and a few Oldsmobile models. These cars soon became the center of attention as the diesel engines were shaky, unreliable, and a total nightmare for the consumer. General Motors backed itself into a corner and paid a hefty amount to outfit the vehicles sold with new gasoline engines. Ever since the ‘diesel disaster’ as some automotive enthusiasts have come to call it, diesel engines have taken a back seat to many consumers’ minds. General Motors failure in the 80s combined with increasing efforts to clean up the air and minimize pollution while maximizing engine efficiency pushed the diesel engine back years, but at the same time allowed it to be reinvented and instituted in an entire new way.

European car makers were among the largest importers of diesel engine cars and remain so today. Mercedes and Volkswagen were the largest of the importers and the success they have been experiencing has not gone unseen. There was a large dip in the number of these cars over a decade ago, but the diesel is reemerging as an efficient, cost-effective, and super reliable means of powering any car and not just a truck. Diesel engines have been implemented in sports cars, luxury vehicles, and even small cars such as Honda Civics and Chevrolet’s Geo.

Chrysler has been trying diesel engines within its Jeep division and has seen great results, along with Ford who has been dabbling into pushing diesels into the smaller caliber vehicles such as the Taurus and Focus. What makes the new diesel engine system so attractive is the combination of a much improved fuel mileage, higher torque output, and an extremely reliable engine. Also, with the cost of diesel fuel often being cheaper than regular unleaded, it would cost less to fill up. As mentioned earlier, diesel engines are much more reliable than most gasoline engines. However a well taken care of diesel engine will often run for hundreds of thousands of miles longer than a gasoline engine.

Within five or ten years, the number of vehicles using diesel engines will likely jump a great deal and dominate a good portion of the automotive market. Asian automakers including Isuzu, Toyota, and Nissan are upping their investments in the North American auto industry, and the overseas car industry has been experimenting and implementing diesel engines longer than the United States. As the number of these imported cars increase, so will the likelihood of these automobiles running on diesel fuel.

Remember the next time you’re thinking about purchasing a car to keep this article in mind. Diesel if just like gasoline prices, they can either go up or down, you’ll never know. Whether you like it or not, diesel fuel is the future of the automotive industry.
