WHILST INNOCENTLY driving my car along a busy highway at peak hour the other day, looking for something to distract me from the growing impatience threatening my peace, I noticed a utility truck in the lane to the right. It was festooned with stickers proclaiming ‘this’ and advocating ‘that’. There was something about it that drew my attention… Objective achieved! I was distracted. The truck was filthy with light brown mud all over it, and there was one sticker in particular that gave the owner up. It read, ‘Thank a farmer for your next meal.’ I thought, “Yes… I will.”Bumper stickers can potentially tell us so much about the person who owns or drives a vehicle can’t they? What stickers do you have on your vehicle? It’s the same as personalized license plates. They often communicate ‘a perception’ of the driver’s personality and their approach to life. I see many cars with ‘name’ plates on them nowadays; the driver obviously seeks for all and sundry to know their name. Cars, like houses, boats, and vans can be a way of showing your character off, to exhibit your ’style.’ The stickers, badges, plates, and other devices we put on our cars communicate all sorts of things to all sorts of people, and not always what we’d expect. Here are some further considerations: If you have a Christian “fish” on your car or any other spiritual sign, people will link your driving behavior to your faith… food for thought? Do you have revealing information on your car that perhaps could compromise your security, for instance, names or phone numbers? If you have values-promoting stickers or badges on your vehicle such as for safety or environment advocacy, people will expect you, your vehicle and your behavior to align to that ’stated’ value. If you have profane stickers and badges you could expect about 90 percent of road users to have a negative attitude about you, and they don’t even know you! If you support a cause like organ donation, leukemia research, or Alzheimer’s disease research, it pays to advertise. If you’re going to have a sticker it might as well give people information on the cause, or how to donate, or how to get involved.

Here is a guaranteed way to get instant savings on your car or truck fuel bill. Nothing to purchase, nothing to install, and very little effort! The most effective way to reduce your gas consumption is to ease off the gas pedal! Yeah, well duh. Everyone knows that. But not everyone does it. Few people are even aware of their jack rabbit starts, darting in and out of lanes, and racing to the next stop light. You can see every time you drive that people are hoofing it, and generally driving like there’s no tomorrow. Which is what there’ll be if we don’t all start using less oil.Let’s face it. There is practically no alternative to gasoline and diesel engines now or in the near future. Even hybrids burn oil and we can’t go far or fast in an electric golf cart, or afford a Tesla electric sports car.But you don’t have to give up anything except road rage if you just relax, learn to drive with a soft foot, and anticipate the traffic flow you are in. You can improve your gas mileage by 30 - 50% with a small change in driving habits. Imagine cutting your gas bill by a third!First off, think of having an eggshell that you mustn’t break under your right foot. As you get the vehicle moving, press gently and no more than an inch movement of the accelerator. You can easily keep up with traffic and merge at this rate. When you reach your cruising speed, ease off a little more. You can maintain a constant speed with a light touch. If appropriate use your cruise control. Studies show it can save 5 - 15% over manually adjusting your speed, and reduces speed creep. In city driving, look ahead for traffic signals, and anticipate slowdowns by watching for brake lights. If you ease off early and coast gently you might not have to stop at all and you can reduce the next acceleration needed from an unnecessary stop.Hard acceleration and braking isn’t just when tires squeal. Many people drive as if they’re in a race all the time without even realizing it. So changing your habits may not come easily but the dividends will pay off.Do you even know what your current gas mileage is? It sure isn’t what the sales window sticker says. That’s a theoretical number based on emissions at the tailpipe and not real world driving conditions. At your next gas stop fill up until the pump clicks off. Write down your odometer reading. Next time you fill up and pay that huge amount, write down the gallons and the miles again. Now calculate your miles per gallon for that thankful. Keep doing that each fill up and soon you’ll learn how easy it is to improve your mileage. With a little driving adjustment and awareness you can go from 20 mpg to nearly 30 mpg! I challenge you!

Undercoating stops and prevents rust and keeps your car looking great. It’s recommended for those planning on keeping their vehicle more than a couple of years It is a thrifty job in two ways. You save the cost of having it done, and leave the body from rusting away.Undercoating is an extra dollar that an auto dealership often tries to load onto you when you buy a new car. But you need not dig into your pocket for this extra. You can do the job yourself at a total cost that is a portion of what an auto repair shop will charge you.Undercoating has two advantages. First and foremost, it will protect a card by preventing the rust that eats through a fender and through a car body. Secondly, sprayed or brushed into metal to metal cracks and crevices the black asphalt material will forestall many a squeak and rattle. Most people think of undercoating in connection with strictly a new car. However it is usually a job that pays dividends on a vehicle of any age. In fact it offers a means of curbing automobile metal rust that may have gained considerable headway on any used car or vehicle. If you decide to undercoat your car, do so before washing and polishing since some spillage may occur.First: Remove the Rust. Whether the car is new or old, all rust must be removed and the metal cleaned off before the undercoating goes in. Rust left under the coating would go right ahead with its damaging work. Work on the metal until it shines.Cleaning comes first. Getting the grime off can be the most difficult part of the procedure.Steam cleaning is probably the best way to prepare the car. If you can have this done. It will save you much effort and heartache. If not TSP (Tri Sodium Phosphate) can be used to loosen up the grease. A wire brush can be utilized. TSP is an inexpensive crystalline salt available at most hardware stores such as Home Depot or Rona. Mix the TSP degreaser with hot water and daub it on grease areas with a sponge or cloth. In doing this job it is important to know what to coat and what not to coat. Keep the material off moving parts, oil pan, brake lines, muffler, tail pipe, drive shaft etc etc. Apply it liberally, however under the fender and sills of the frame and under the floor. Under the fenders work it right out to the edge.To get under the fenders you will have to remove the wheels. Unless the support is very stable, remove only one wheel at a time. It never hurts to play it safe. Some undercoaters are inflammable, while wet. So work with good ventilation - and avoid smoking and open flames of course.Remember an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, or many tons of salt in this case.

Unnecessarily slow driving is a very annoying habit some drivers have. It delays traffic, it causes accidents, and it causes failures in road tests for many driving students. Driving slowly has its reasons, but the reality it brings is unavoidable: slow drivers can be found anywhere. During a driving test, driving too slowly can fail a student. However, slow driving has much more than that. The main reason for slow driving is fear and lack of confidence. A scared driver is more likely to drive slowly, since speed gives a feeling of losing control. The slow driving makes the driver more confident at first, but when everyone passes him, it can once again throw his confidence away. This is a cycle that leads to an extremely diffident driver.During a driving test, slow driving can annoy the examiner. Although the annoyance of the examiner is not a factor in the test results, marking a speed error on every street can ruin the test very quickly. Furthermore, driving too slowly can trigger a speed critical error, from which there is no return. Driving too slowly really ruins driving tests. On the road, slow driving is dangerous and already caused many accidents. When a fast car approaches a slow one, sometimes there is not enough space to change a lane or slow down. The result - the fast (or normal speed) driver hits the slow driver. If an accident doesn’t happen and the fast driver manages to slow down, drivers behind him will also slow down, and a chain reaction will begin. This is how “unexplainable” traffic jams occur. With all disadvantages, slow driving is not always bad. Some roads are limited to a very low speed limit, usually for good reasons. It is done to prevent accidents, crashes, and unnecessary death. Driving on these low speed areas might be boring and annoying, but it is also life saving. The only way to avoid unnecessary slow driving is practice. Not all practice drives are good. Only driving with a good guide that explains how to choose the right speed for any situation will help drivers. Every driving student should have such a guide before taking the driving test.

I am certain that in innovative years you have observed advertisement for the donation of your old automobile and subtracting it on income tax. The first thing you require to know when bearing this is that you will to be able to list. The amount you require to itemize is needy on what file status you make use of.1) The aid substantiates involvement by reporting to taxpayer in “contemporary written acknowledgement,” that the taxpayer should include with their return. 2) Generally, the sum of deduction cannot go further than gross proceeds predictable from sale. The “contemporaneous on paper acknowledgement” is that is it provided by done charity in 30 days of one of following; sale of vehicle or the certification that vehicle has been significantly better or that charity has made important intervening utilization of it. Built-in in this statement should be taxpayer ID number as well as vehicle ID number. If vehicle has been vend, acknowledgement requires to contain the certification, which the vehicle has sold in the arms length deal between unrelated parties, amount of gross proceeds from sale, and the statement that deductible sum cannot go beyond gross proceeds. If vehicle has been significantly improved or if charity has made important intervening utilization of it, acknowledgement should contain the certification of intended use or else the material improvement of vehicle and intended duration of these use and the certification that vehicle will not be moved in exchange for cash, services, or else property before conclusion of use or improvements. If the vehicle is worth over $250 however not more than $500, then the acknowledgment requires to have the following information;1) Amount of cash and the description but not for value of some property other than the cash given.2) Whether donee or organization offered any goods or else services in deliberation, in complete or in part, for cash or else property contributed.3) The description and good estimate of value of any of the goods or services offered by donee organization in consider for donation, or, if these merchandise or else services consist wholly of flimsy spiritual repayment, the statement to that effect. If sales price is around $500 or less, notice provides that deduction is lesser of fair market value on date of donation or $500.So you desire to donate, what is sensible method to decide market value? I will say that if you pass on to the established used vehicle pricing direct is reasonable method of determining the fair market value. With admiration to used vehicle guides, IRS states that system establish two main rules.1) Dealer retail price is not acceptable measure of the fair market value.2) For donations after June 3, 2005, the amount not in surplus of price listed for private sale of similar vehicle is the acceptable measure of the fair market price IRS and Treasury will as well consider further values (that is, dealer exchange value). But, any regulations that may reduce allowable fair market price below personal party sale will not be relevant prior to effective date of regulations.

Would you like to cut your gas costs and get the most out of your car? Everyone knows it, it’s no secret. The price of gas is going up, and it’s going to stay up. Sure it may fluctuate a bit, but the days of a $1 per gallon are gone. Long gone. The oil companies are not going to help you, the government will act slowly and too late, the car companies will make their vehicles more efficient only when they absolutely have to.So what’s a poor sap to do who is only looking to make it from point A to point B to earn an honest living?Alternative fuel saving technologies that can be applied to gas and diesel engines are not fancy, at least not anymore. Remember, it wasn’t the big companies that started the automobile revolution, it was guys who tinkered around in their garages and created something amazing. The same as the people who are looking beyond what the current big companies are trying to do.Let’s look at a few of our possibilities:Water Hydrogen: Water? How can water be a fuel? Heck, our planet is full of water, wouldn’t that be a great way to save money and the planet all at the same time? I’ll try to put it simply. It is a Free-energy solution which uses water as a supplement to gasoline. Using a little electricity, your car’s battery will separate water into a gas called HHO (2 Hydrogen + 1 Oxygen). HHO, also referred to as Hydroxy burns effectively and supplies significant energy, while the end product is just Water. HHO has the atomic power of Hydrogen and maintains the stability of Water.Sounds kind of confusing, but really what it means is that electricity helps your car convert energy from water. Moreover, you don’t need to add anything special to the water it works with plain old tap water.Bio-Diesel: You’ve probably heard of this one before; that guy on the news who converted McDonald’s french fry oil into fuel. Now wherever he goes his exhaust smells like french fries and McNuggets. Sure is a lot better than the smell of diesel, right? And a whole lot cheaper. Now on the market are guides and instructions for how regular people like you and me can do these things ourselves with a little instructional help. It will be better for the environment and better on our wallets. You owe it to yourself to check into them today. Wouldn’t it be nice to put the money you work so hard for toward something other than getting to and from work?

Your car is one of your possessions that you can hardly afford to lose. Many activities now of modern living would call for the use of a car, with the pace of life now much faster compared to the days before the wheeled vehicle came into being. Moving about your day-to-day activities without a vehicle could mean a more tedious and time-consuming routine for you. Thus, it is necessary that you have the appropriate measures in your home designed for avoiding auto theft. It is best to have a completely closed and locked garage for your car as an essential part of your house. This will ensure that you sleep better, knowing that your vehicle is safe from any thief who may try to steal it. Imagine what effect it will have on you if you wake up in the morning to find out that your car is missing!A car parked inside a locked garage is definitely much safer than a vehicle parked in the open in your driveway. Insuring a locked garage for the night is mandatory to protect your main means of transportation in going to your place of work, in conducting your kids to school, in marketing for the needs of the family, and so many other movements you have to do as part of your daily routine.A pet dog sleeping in an area in your house right next to your garage is a very effective warning system that you can have as part of the security measures for the car as well as for the entire house. Your canine friend, with its strong sense of smell and hearing, will always detect anybody in the vicinity and wake you up with its barking in case an intruder comes near your place. A car thief, on hearing the dog’s bark, will likely back away from any bad intentions he may have.Install security gadgets in your garage, electronically activated, to create an alarming noise in case an unauthorized person intrudes into the building. Again, this electronic gadget is a practical warning device that not only alerts you of a potential thief, but on its own, may even scare the intruder away before he can do anything.Other instances that may expose your car to theft include those times when you park it in unattended public lots for long periods. Avoid leaving your car in these places. Even when you have to park on the road there may be instances when thieves attempt to steal it. When you park along the road turn your wheels sharply toward the curb, so when somebody attempts to take it, he cannot just drive away easily. It will be prudent to install an automatic steering wheel locking device in your car for added protection.Make it a habit always to lock your car when you park it, to make sure that if one is thinking of stealing it he cannot do it as easily compared with an unlocked vehicle.Sound alarm devices placed inside the car, with its wiring integrated with the vehicle’s electrical system, is also a practical warning system. Once there is an unauthorized attempt to open the car doors the gadget inside creates a lot of noise that attracts the people around and scares away the potential car thief. If you are within hearing distance, you can call the police right away for assistance.

Since the initial inception of the automotive dealership showroom, it has been said that the trick to selling cars is how you guide potential customers through the process of buying a car. For years, this very important step in the process was done via the telephone. As with all good things, new inventions come about, technology changes and the introduction of new ways to do business such as the introduction of the Internet, and emailing now affords consumers a whole new way to communicate. Because of this, the sales process changed and things became a little slower to complete. Dealers were not able to identify customer needs as quickly and as a result could not as easily help the buyer understand the car buying cycle. Now that cell phones and PDA’s have become common place, Honda Los Angeles Dealers offers constant communication and access to information online available 24/7. We are starting to see an even greater reliance on electronic communication. The current generation is heavily into things such as Instant Messaging and blogging. The use of instant messaging for most people has helped to bridge the gap between consumers and dealers. By allowing consumers to move at their own pace through the buying cycle online, dealers still keep in communication with customers and have the chance to gather information about the consumer and what their interests are.Consumers have seen this as an opportunity and now dealers such as Audi Seacoast and Ford New Hampshire have the challenge to either accept the change or fall behind in the race to keep consumers on board. Many dealers are now starting to implement features such as Live Chat on their web sites to allow sales personnel to engage in conversation with consumers while they are online shopping. Consumers can ask questions while dealers provide the details that consumers are looking for. This allows dealers to draw consumers in and still have the possibility of getting that ever sought after “Internet Lead” that every dealer so desperately wants. Some dealers are adjusting better than other in the internet leads race. Technology allows Southern Maine Chevrolet Dealers to respond to these customers through auto responders and template emails. Dealers have quickly learned that speed is of the essence when trying to convert an internet lead into a sale. He who responds first has a greater chance of closing the deal. The dealers that learn to adjust with the times and understand the usefulness of today’s technology will gain an extreme advantage over the dealers who choose to look the other way. Consumers are more savvy with want they want in an automobile as well as how the shop for one. How they shop will be forever changing with the latest technological advances. As with any new technology, there are concerns about the costs and maintenance of systems such as this, but as dealers are finding, these solutions are very low cost and easy to implement and can easily allow dealers to compete for these Internet-savvy prospects.

You may be surprised to find out that the United States consumes a quarter of the world’s oil supply but only carries three percent of the world’s oil reserves on its own territory. As a result,
America is forced to import over 60% of the oil our country needs, relying more and more on foreign countries, particularly in the
Middle East, to support our oil dependency. Many experts are under the impression that the introduction and popularity of hybrid vehicles in the
US will lessen our dependency on overseas oil. Powered jointly by gasoline and electric engines, hybrids use much less gasoline than conventional vehicles and therefore use less oil. Over 11 million barrels of oil are imported into the
US each day and although most of it is contributed to industry, the running of vehicles still uses quite a bit of oil and hybrids provide a way to limit that amount.Because the market reacted so well towards the introduction of hybrid vehicles, it is predicted that more Americans will buy the fuel-efficient automobiles, which also lower gasoline costs and are better for the environment. Many hybrid buyers are also gaining incentives, offered by the government, and have been spreading the word about the benefits of hybrid vehicles to their friends and familiesThough
US oil dependency will be affected by the sales of hybrids, it is unlikely that it will be a huge selling factor. It was recently discovered that if every car in the
US was a hybrid car, the country would be saving approximately 15 percent more oil than usual. Because oil is such a hot commodity, this seemingly small amount could change a lot in the political and economical world as well effect as the attitude American consumers have about the environment.Though consumers are welcoming hybrids to the market, the vehicles are being sold faster than they can be made and the change in
US dependency will come slowly. Despite the effects the vehicles have on oil usage, the environment and the amount of gasoline used, many car owners are unlikely to trade in their current vehicles for a hybrid model. The process, however, has begun and it won’t be long before the effects of purchasing a hybrid will be seen in American economy. If the prospects of saving hundreds of dollars a month on gasoline costs, helping the environment and benefiting from buyer incentives isn’t enough to make your next car a hybrid, think of the amount of oil your country imports from others and do something to help lower that dependency.
