Make Use Of Gas Cards And Save Money !

Every business needs to keep an eye on their operating expenses when it comes to turning a profit. This includes such things as electricity, rent, and in many cases, fuel costs. Regardless of the size of your business, the rising cost of gas is sure to affect your bottom line. When your business is a freight or delivery service that is dependent on the use of many vehicles, why not maximize your profits by downsizing your fuel costs?Having your drivers and vehicles equipped with special gas cards can mean the difference between being profitable and simply surviving. Therefore, it is crucial that you keep track of how much gas your drivers and vehicles are using. Decreased gas mileage can be a sign of a vehicle in need of repairs, or possibly even fraudulent activity on the part of your employees. By making use of a gas card you can be protected against fluctuations in gas prices. As some places have price differences for gas, your drivers may be caught unaware if they only carry cash to buy gas. By using the gas card, they’re always ready and able to buy the gas, no matter how much the price fluctuates from place to place. Not to mention that you are able to pre-plan your route based on designated filling stations associated with your card.By having one simple gas card that is designated specifically for the purchase of fuel, you can very easily track the amount of gas consumed by your vehicles and at what price for which the gas was bought. These credit cards are sometimes also associated with reward points programs that allow you to save up points earned by purchasing gas and trade them in for prizes or services. Even a small business can rack up considerable points over the course of a year by simply buying the gas they need to buy anyway with a single gas card. The most common reward that’s offered is, of course, free gas or a discounted rate on the gas purchase. The gas company sometimes credits the business account for the rebate and other times offers the actual reward certificate through the mail. The ability of the business owner to keep all receipts for fuel purchased by different members of the same organization on one simple account is a very attractive feature. The statement that one receives every month has all the purchases recorded and also has a running total so you can compare the previous months’ purchases to the present statement. Many gas companies offer special loyalty programs for their customers or reward them for using the credit card a certain number of times over the course of a year. This is a loyalty program and is a lot like a points reward program. They want their customers to always return to their station to buy their gas and they like to reward this form of loyalty with special prizes or discounts. Lower interest rates are sometimes used as incentives to get customers to use the card more often during slower periods of consumption. Therefore, having your drivers make use of gas cards can save money and lead to better fleet management.

Why Are There So Many Irresponsible Drivers Out There On Our Roads With Us?

Perhaps it’s because so many otherwise responsible people — simply never take the time to consider what it really takes to be a responsible driver. They never really think about it. After my last driver refresher course, I decided to sit down and codify what for me, are the four essential elements of responsible, safe driving. Each of these four basic concepts can beg many additional issues but these are my basics. See if you might not agree.1. Know and maintain the machine.A motor vehicle is a machine. It’s a tool. It happens to be a very dangerous one. Like any other dangerous tool, a hammer, a chain-saw, an axe or even a firearm, it behooves the user to understand it, to learn how to use it correctly, learn its unique traits and to maintain it in top operating condition. If we don’t understand and adhere to this most basic concept of the driving experience, can we really consider ourselves responsible drivers?2. Drive within Limitations.Driving is both a physical and mental exercise. We’re all different people with different skill sets, different strengths, weaknesses and different abilities. As driver’s this doesn’t change. We must always be aware of — and drive (or not drive) within our personal limitations and the limitations of our specific machines, be they temporary limitations or permanent. We must also be alert to the limitations of other drivers on the road. It’s not hard to do. All you’ve got to do is eye-ball them for a half mile or so! It’s also quite politically correct these days to judge others by our own limitations. Let’s not do it on the roads. Let’s leave that to our legislators - they’re pretty good at it. If we’re not consciously driving within our limitations and the limitations of our machines, and if we’re not constantly identifying fellow drivers who are not, are we really being responsible, safe drivers?3. Driving Skills. This may be the most overlooked concept of responsible driving. We tool around the block, do a parallel-park, maybe a three point U-turn and as long as we don’t blow a stop sign, we get a license that says we have the skills to drive. Yeah, right! In one of my refresher courses the instructor went around the room asking the unwilling participants what about other drivers annoyed them most. Not really sure what that had to do with safe driving but I thought one of the responses to be kind of interesting. “What annoys me most are kids doing doughnuts in a snowy parking lot.” Hmm, I thought for a moment. Doesn’t really annoy me. Done it plenty of times — and I’m no kid. That “kid” is practicing his driving skills. He’s learning how to handle his car in what basically is a controlled skid. Much rather be behind him on a snowy or slippery road than someone who’s going to learn it for the first time!Driving skills have to be studied, developed and practiced. Perhaps thirty percent of our fellow highway drivers have ever even heard of the terms “over-steer,” “under-steer” or “throttle-steering,” much less — understand how they affect a vehicle at speed. In order to be truly skilled highway drivers, we need to at least understand basic vehicle handling concepts. And we have to be skilled drivers — to be safe, responsible drivers.4. Driving Experience.Ah!! The really tough one. But I’ve got really good news for our younger drivers. You don’t have to wait ’till you’re as old as I am to gain a ton of driving experience. (Lucky you!) All you’ve really got to do is think about it - and make a conscious effort to acquire your experience more quickly.

Basic Tips For Buying A Recreational Vehicle !

Your dream RV is your home on wheels. You will undoubtedly want it to be as comfortable and is as good condition as your regular home. Yes? Of course!!Any home will have a few niggles like a squeaky door, occasional problems with the aircon or heating and so on. In other words, not perfect but pretty damn close. It will be the same with your motorhome, your dream RV. There are some pretty simple things that you can look for when buying your used RV that can get you close to the ideal (and save money). Here are our 5 hot RV buyers tips …Soft SpotsCheck the flooring thoroughly for any soft spots. You are most likely to find these in the kitchen area and bathroom. If there is rotting of the flooring it probably indicates a long term water leak, as likely as not from the plumbing. To get the floor fixed and the leaks traced and fixed could be expensive.EngineYour dream RV will be doing a whole lotta miles - find out all you can about the engine history. Ask for the maintenance records, repair receipts and so on. Listen to the engine running with the hood up, see how it sounds, are there any strange rattles or other noises that should not be there? Did it start easily from cold. Is the exhaust at all smoky, especially when revved? Is it quiet inside the cab. Having someone with some engine know-how would be useful if you don’t have much mechanical experience.Open and ShutOpen and close everything inside and outside of the recreational vehicle you are interested in. Poke around and look for signs of water leakage in cupboards, around the toilet and so on. Do all of the RV doors and cupboard doors open and close properly (include the water, gas etc flaps as well)? Does everything switch on and off correctly?Propane systemYou may want to hire a specialist for these checks as they could make the difference between life and death. Look at the regulator and the propane lines, do they look in good condition or are they past there best? Is the tank storage area showing any signs of corrosion? WarrantiesCheck with the RV dealer to find out what parts, if any are under warranty still and also that the warranty cards are still available. There are of course many more checks that you could and need to do before satisfying yourself that this is a good used recreational vehicle to buy. This is not intended as a comprehensive checklist that will turn you into an expert buyer of RVs. This is for information only and we cannot accept any liability for your decision to buy and RV - you make your own mind up. It is up to you to decide whether the used recreational vehicle is both roadworthy and worth what you pay for it. The responsibility for buying lies with you and any experts that you might employ on your behalf.

Your Own Recreational Vehicle ! Maintenance and Driving Tips

The RV itself is a mammoth of machinery you never in your life ever owned. Some people might even call it a house. And even to those who do not, they at least know one thing and one thing only: an RV is very big. So, how does one go about maintaining, let alone driving, an RV?Here are a few simple words of advice on how to properly maintain an RV. (Yes, even those Class A titans.)The inside of an RV will generally house a shower. At least the bigger ones do. While out on the road, be sure to conserve water. This can be especially true when driving down a stretch of wilderness. Fresh, clean water will not come readily. The basic principle behind taking a shower inside an RV goes like this: wet yourself, turn the water off and lather, and then turn the water back on to rinse away the soap. Sorry folks. No standing beneath hot, steamy currents to toast away the morning chill. The life of an RV is maintained by constant conservation, especially when in a large party of people. Now second all that with power conservation. And add to that the septic tanks. Yes, it’s the down and dirty, but it concludes the three basics of interior RV maintenance. Measure out and plan where to unload your septic tanks. It is essentially water that has been heavily polluted, and thus should not be discarded anywhere. For the sake of the environment, dump your polluted water in designated areas.Never weigh your RV down to its limits. Just because the inside looks like a house doesn’t mean you should treat it as such. Rather than a concrete foundation, your RV rests on rubber tires. Rubber tires that careen over asphalt. A heavy RV could and will suffer a tire blowout; even if the tires are perfectly new.And when driving, please drive on the left-hand lane as often as possible. An RV, namely a Class A titan, is indefinitely a wide-load vehicle. Be courteous, and avoid potential rear-ends, by sticking to the right-hand lane. If the road is just a single lane, steer as far to the right edge as possible. Take into consideration the RV’s length and width. Be weary of drifting behind the wheel (especially on those sleepy, late-night stretches of road), as an RV already tends to fill up most of a single lane. Avoid bulging out against an oncoming lane; as an RV or semi going in the opposite direction could just as easily make a mistake, too.And so, lastly, when it comes time to put your RV into storage, it all becomes a matter of insurance. Why pay for year-round coverage when, in truth, a casual RV owner will only need coverage season-to-season, when trips are more sporadic? The final tip is to get coverage based on the consistency of your trips. And so, for the seasonal enthusiast, cut costs by getting, what else, seasonal coverage.

Want To Save Gas ? Change your motoring habits and not your car!

Improve your fuel cost problem. No special skills needed!   With gas prices on the rise, there is no better time to review what you can do to limit your fuel consumption. No need to buy expensive add-ons equipment or even a book to know more, Coz’ It will cost you more. Read this.• Your car. Cars in poor running condition use more gasoline. Keep your car tuned up. Regular tune-ups ensure best economy; check owner’s manual for recommended maintenance intervals. And also, special attention should be given to maintaining clean air filters… diminished air flow increases gas waste. Inspect suspension and chassis parts for occasional misalignment. Bent wheels, axles, bad shocks, broken springs, etc. create engine drag and are unsafe at high traveling speeds.• Car Air Conditioner. Air conditioning uses a lot of power. Try using a lower setting. When you use your air conditioner you get much lower mileage so use it sparingly. You also don’t need your AC on full blast for extended periods of time, turn the AC on until you feel cool enough, then turn the AC off and let the fan circulate the cool air. When driving on the highway, most of a vehicle’s power is used simply to overcome aerodynamic drag. Drivers are often told that keeping the windows rolled up, which significantly reduces drag, and using air conditioning actually results in better fuel economy than driving at high speeds with the windows open.• Extra baggage, extra air pressure. Take unnecessary items out of the car. Extra weight affects your gas mileage. In addition, check your tire pressure. Inflate all tires to maximum limit. Each tire should be periodically spun, balanced and checked for out-of-round. Over-inflated tires can actually reduce your fuel efficiency, so don’t overfill. And not having enough air in the tires can cause a number of problems, including a potentially dangerous blow-out. Radial designs are the recognized fuel-savers; check manufacturer’s specifications for maximum tire pressures.• Driving the speed limit. Never exceed legal speed limit. Primarily they are set for your traveling safety, however better gas efficiency also occurs. Drive steady and try to keep a constant speed. The more your speed fluctuates the more gas you will use. Accelerate gradually when leaving stop lights. You’ve probably been told before that rushing up to stop lights and racing away from them wastes gas. Slowing zero-to-sixty times to 20 seconds instead of 10 to 15 seconds makes a big difference in mileage over the long term. Braking slowly and gently helps, too.• Drive safely and economically. Traveling at fast rates in low gears can consume up to 45% more fuel than is needed. You no longer need to warm your car up for long periods of time, especially with new cars. And try not to idle your engine for long periods of time and travel at fast speeds in low gear. Avoid “reving” the engine, especially just before you switch the engine off; this wastes fuel needlessly and washes oil down from the inside cylinder walls, owing to loss of oil pressure. . Don’t start and stop engine needlessly. Idling your engine for one minute consumes the gas amount equivalent to when you start the engine.• General advice. Buy gasoline during coolest time of day - early morning or late evening is best. During these times gasoline is densest. Keep in mind - gas pumps measure volumes of gasoline, not densities of fuel concentration. Choose type and brand of gasoline carefully. Certain brands provide you with greater economy because of better quality. Avoid filling gas tank to top, overfilling results in sloshing over and out of tank.

The Ability To Tow A Trailer Optimizes The Utility Of A Vehicle, And Even Many Types Of Cars Can Double As Tow Vehicles When Needed

Regardless of the size and type of a tow vehicle, towing a trailer introduces new risks and calls for extra cautious driving.  First, it is important to ensure that you are using the appropriate equipment for your vehicle and the trailer you will be towing. Though many cars can tow trailers, all cars cannot, and it is not enough to hitch up the trailer, load your cargo and hit the road. Consulting with the owner’s manual for your vehicle and staying within the Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) specified for your vehicle is critical to safe towing. The GCWR is the maximum allowable combined weight of the vehicle itself, passengers, trailer and cargo, and should never be exceeded. Your vehicle owner’s manual may specify a maximum trailer towing capacity, so be sure to read and follow all recommendations before you load up. Additionally, adhere to weight and speed recommendations provided in the trailer’s owner manual or by the company from which you have rented the trailer.Once you have verified that all components of the trailer, hitch and vehicle are functioning and secure, and weight is distributed on the trailer according to manufacturer recommendations, you are ready to begin your journey. Driving with a trailer in tow requires exercising more caution when stopping, accelerating, and maneuvering on the roadways. The first rule of safe towing is to take it slowly. With the added weight and length on your vehicle, you will need to allow more space to stop, start and slow down. Accelerating and decelerating at a slow rate will give you optimal control, minimize wear and tear on the tow vehicle and reduce the risk to other drivers on the road. Avoid sudden movements to protect your vehicle and prevent cargo from shifting and affecting the weight distribution of the load.Towing a trailer on the road demands that you be alert and aware of your surroundings at all times. Check mirrors frequently so that you are aware of vehicles beside and behind you, and to inspect the trailer for problems. Keep the steering wheel gripped with both hands to maintain optimal control because wind, crosswinds from passing vehicles and uneven road surfaces could cause your vehicle to jolt unexpectedly. Additionally, extra space should be allowed when making maneuvers such as turns and lane changes. If you are traveling with a trailer for an extended distance, make frequent stops to perform a safety check on the cargo, hitch and tires of both the tow vehicle and trailer.Because of the added weight, your vehicle will not react as quickly when it has a trailer in tow. Allow plenty of time to reach your destination when traveling with a trailer to avoid the temptation to speed or skip important safety checks. Adhering to all recommendations for your vehicle and trailer and exercising utmost caution when driving with a trailer in tow will help ensure safe travel for both your passengers and other motorists on the road.

Do You Know The Advantages Of Using Biodiesel Blens ?

Biodiesel blends are becoming more essential to the every day operation of farm vehicles and machinery, trucks, buses and boats both big and small. This is because there are a slew of advantages to using one of the designer fuel biodiesel fuel blends on the market.First of all any substance that helps reduce the U.S. dependence on foreign fossil fuel oils can’t help but be a good thing. This is particularly true in the

United States, which has resorted to a fair amount of aggression to take control of the world’s oil supplies. If you cut your gasoline or diesel with a biodiesel fuel blend such as fuel boost you are cutting down on your need to use foreign fossil fuels and creating jobs for Americans who grow the soy and canola that is used to make biodiesel blends.Biodiesel can be used in a blend in many different kinds of existing diesel engines without modification. Biodiesel burns substantially cleaner than petroleum based diesel fuel in both vehicles and machinery.·Biodiesel is carbon-neutral which means that its contribution to global warming is negligible compared to petroleum products. In addition to displacing imported petroleum, biodiesel blends reduce air pollution and greenhouse gases. A 1998 biodiesel lifecycle study, jointly sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, concluded biodiesel reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 78 percent (compared to petroleum diesel.) The CO² released into the atmosphere when biodiesel burned is recycled by plants, which produce more oxygen.Biodiesel is a lubricant that reduces wear and tear on engine parts by almost one half! In fact it is already added to many petrodiesel fuels to increase the lubricity of diesel engines and fuel systems. It is also a solvent that can help keep your system clean.Sick of seeing black smoke flume out from your exhaust. Biodiesel burns cleaner and produces less smoke. The smoke it does produce is white as opposed to back. The exhaust from biodiesel also smells better. People say it reminds them of the smell of popcorn or French fries.Biodiesel is the only alternative fuel to have fully completed the health effects testing requirements of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments as biodiesel produces less sulfur emissions than regular diesel. However biodiesel is still not that widely available commercially. Still the consumption of biodiesel has greatly increased since 2001. This is why so many people are ordering their own car conversion “grease car” kits or home brewing systems to make their own biodiesel. If you have an older machine, then there is a chance that using a biodiesel fuel additive such as FuelBoost could have the effect of cleaning or thinning old petroleum from the walls of your fuel lines and clog up your engine.Biodiesel in a pure form (such as B100) has a high gelling point compared to other fuels. This means that it thickens when the temperature falls below the freezing point (32 F). However there are solutions to this such as using a blend of biodiesel called B20. B20 is a blend of 20% biodiesel and 80% regular diesel and has a gelling point of –15 degrees F. Adding a biodiesel additive such as Fuel Boost to the blend also lowers the gel point even further so that your fuel lines don’t clog up in the winter.

Don’t Simply Grab The First Extended Warranty That You Are Offered - Take Your Time And Ensure That You Get A Deal That’s Right For You

Many new cars will come with a manufacturer’s warranty that will cover repairs during the initial period of car ownership. What happens when that period comes to an end and you are looking to extend your car warranty? The answer to that question for many car owners is that they return to their car retailer and ask for an extended policy. The retailer often sells them a policy, but is it always a good deal for the consumer?Purchasing an extended car warranty from a car retailer might well end up costing you more money than it should do. While car retailers are specialists in buying and selling cars, they’re not necessarily going to offer you the best deal on warranty policies.Car retailers tend to look upon warranties as handy additional extras that can be used to generate them more income. While this may be understandable, given some difficult trading conditions for many retailers, it might not be in your best interests. If you’re interested in getting extended car warranty then you really need to shop around to make sure that you get the best deal available to you. While you might start by looking at what’s available from your local car retailer, it’s worth comparing the policy offered with alternatives that are readily available online. You should look to compare prices and also the extent of the cover on offer, as this can vary considerably. One good place to look is to track down independent car warranty companies. Many of them are now prepared to sell direct to consumers online, reducing their policy prices as a result.
